Police: No credible threat at East Providence schools

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police and school administration in East Providence investigated an alleged threat against a city school Friday morning, and have determined there is no credible threat against any schools in the city.

In a post on their Facebook page, East Providence police said the school department was made aware of concerns of social media chatter regarding a possible threat.

Investigators spoke with the child involved, and found there was no intent or capacity to commit a crime at any of the schools. The child isn’t a student in East Providence, and doesn’t live in the city, according to police.

Police and school officials continue to monitor the situation out of an abundance of caution.
