PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A successful 1-0-1 road trip over a nationally-ranked Miami University squad has lifted the Providence College men’s hockey team to No. 2 overall in both national polls. The Friars received 13 first place votes in the USCHO.com poll and seven in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

North Dakota topped both of the polls, while Omaha, Boston College, and Denver rounded out the top-five in the USCHO poll. BC, Omaha, and Harvard finished out the top-five in the USA Today poll.

Providence got strong contributions from the senior line of Brandon Tanev (Toronto, Ontario), Mark Jankowski (Dundas, Ontario), and Trevor Mingoia (Fairport, N.Y.), as the trio combined for four goals and nine assists over two games. Mingoia earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors for his six-point performance over the Redhawks last weekend.

The Friars return home this Friday (Oct. 16) to raise the National Championship banner and kick off the 2015-16 home schedule against Holy Cross beginning at 7:30 p.m.
