PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Lincoln Chafee was all over social media Tuesday night as he took part in CNN’s Democratic presidential debate, however the reaction may not have been what he was hoping for.
Rhode Island’s former governor went toe-to-toe with front runners Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, and noticeably struggled with questions from moderator Anderson Cooper.
Chafee’s performance was widely panned in the media, and the response on social media was less than kind, to say the least.

For future dumb things I do: I just got here. I think you are being a little rough.

From what I see of the debate between innings, those 2 guys on the ends? Yeeesh. You 2 are not. going. to be. president. Of anything, ever.

Linc a bit like another RI’er: Patrick Kennedy, laboring in dad’s shadow. John Chafee celebrated his 20th b-day on Guadalcanal.

As for Chafee, he simply had one too many awkward moments, with the vote tally excuses being the toughest moments to watch.

The real question is how did Lincoln Chafee get elected governor of a U.S. state?

The problem for Linc is he inherited a *Republican* staff from his father – and is now defending votes they advised him on in a *Dem* debate

If Chafee had a staff, they would have told him not to say that.
