NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Sunday night is the game most Patriots fans have been waiting for since January. They’re thirsty for some payback on the Colts for starting the saga that became known as Deflategate.
Matt Moniz, a teacher at Ricci Middle School in North Providence, just found out he’s going to the game in Indianapolis. Moniz, who is also a Navy reservist, was entered to win after making a donation to the Matt Light Foundation. The former Patriots lineman’s charity aims to teach children the value of responsibility, accountability, and hard work.
“I just think it’s great to see these football stars coming in and helping out kids in anyway they can,” Moniz said.
Moniz will get a limo ride to Logan airport, where he will then take a private plane to Indianapolis for Sunday’s game, and then have dinner with Matt Light.
The one hard decision Moniz still has to make is which jersey he will wear while in enemy territory.
“I’ve got Gronkowski, Edleman, Brady. I think it might be Brady. I think he needs it,” he said.
Moniz admitted he’ll be skipping school on Monday.
