WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WPRI) — A Brockton man accused of raping a young female student while working as a coach at a cheerleading gym faced a judge Monday.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office, Nicholas D. Johnson was arraigned on charges of aggravated rape of a child, enticement of a minor and posing a child in a state of nudity. He was ordered held on $50,000 bail, per the state’s request.

Johnson, 26, worked for about a year as the alleged victim’s gymnastics coach at Full House All Stars Cheerleading gym in West Bridgewater. He was fired from the gym last week.

The DA’s office said the girl’s parents contacted West Bridgewater police about an alleged sexual relationship between their daughter and Johnson. The alleged victim told police he sexually assaulted her on one occasion and took her off the gym property on another occasion.

Johnson was arrested Oct. 14 after he crashed his car on Route 24 North. He was treated for minor injuries at Norwood Hospital before being released into police custody.

The incident remains under investigation.

Johnston is due back in court Nov. 18.
