United Health sends letters in error to customers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Hundreds of Rhode Islanders with health coverage through United Health Care say they mistakenly received letters stating they are losing their healthcare at the end of the month.

Customers told Eyewitness News they spent hours on the phone with United Healthcare trying to get answers.

“They had a recording stating that it would take about sixty minutes before I would be answered, “said United Healthcare Customer Joe Pezzullo.

United Healthcare issued an apology on Tuesday, and reminded customers that they never lost their health benefits during the confusion.

United healthcare has not said how the letters were sent out in error.
