Whole Foods recalls chicken, pasta salad for possible listeria contamination

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Whole Foods Market is voluntarily recalling bulk and packaged Curry Chicken Salad and Classic Deli Pasta Salad due to possible listeria contamination.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, the recalled products were sold in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Maine.

Several different products are included in this recall and the salads were sold prepackaged, in salad bars, in store chef cases and in sandwiches or wraps.  For a complete list look below.

The Department of Health says listeria monocytogenes can cause serious or sometimes fatal illnesses in children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of an infection include fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with these products.

Consumers should bring their receipt to any Whole Foods Market for a full refund.
