Police: Armed suspect flees store empty-handed

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are working to track down a suspect following an armed robbery attempt at a Pawtucket gas station.

According to police, the man entered the Best Way gas station on Newport Avenue just before 9 p.m. Tuesday and threatened the clerk with a gun and a knife. After failing to obtain any cash or merchandise, police said the suspect fled the store on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s with no facial hair. Police said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants with cargo pockets, as well as black sneakers with white bottoms.
