Female suspect sought in New Bedford robbery attempt

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are looking for the identity of a female suspect who attempted to rob a New Bedford store with what appeared to be a pellet gun.

According to city police, the woman entered the Freitas Package Store on Cove Road at about 1:30 p.m. Friday and waved the weapon around, demanding money.

When the clerk refused to open the register and questioned the authenticity of the gun, police said she fled the area on a bicycle.

Police described the suspect as a white female with light skin, a thin build and a tattoo on her neck.
