MANSFIELD, Mass. (AP/WPRI) — Police say a Mansfield man has been arrested after a Massachusetts woman accused him of trying to attack her and her toddler with a knife.

Mansfield police arrested 27-year-old David Brock Thursday and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say Brock is an acquaintance of the unidentified woman and the toddler, who were found on the balcony of his second-floor apartment.

Two knives were recovered from the apartment. Police say they believe Brock stashed them in a toilet tank.

Brock’s mother Janet says he is bipolar and that a counselor apparently believes he is not taking his medications. A call to her residence Friday was not immediately returned.

Brock was arraigned Friday in Attleboro. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, according to police.
