FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Commuters in Southeastern Massachusetts will be pleased to see both eastbound lanes of the Braga Bridge are now back open, however that only means the westbound side will soon be impacted by ongoing construction work.
The bridge that carries I-195 over the Taunton River has been undergoing seemingly endless repairs, and local drivers say they’re used to the congestion at this point.
“4 o’clock on a Tuesday – traffic is pretty jammed up,” said C.J. Willie.
“It’s not really that fun, but you have to deal with it,” added Nathan McCarthy.
One westbound lane will be open Thursday night into Friday and Sunday night into Monday, allowing crews to set a barrier between the middle and right lanes to create a work zone.
Massachusetts Department of Transportation officials expect work on that side to be complete by Tuesday.
“Construction is good,” added Willie. “Construction is helping out everyone, but when they’re all done with it, it should be a lot easier to get everyone over the bridge.”
Both westbound travel lanes will be open during the day.
