PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A statewide grand jury reported out a sealed indictment, charging two Rhode Island men in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a girl.
Robert Perry, 57, of Coventry, is charged with kidnapping a minor; first-degree sexual assault; second-degree sexual assault; conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault; and conspiracy of enticement of a child.
The panel indicted Perry’s co-defendant, Lloyd Baker, 54, of West Warwick on charges of first-degree sexual assault; conspiracy to commit first-degree sexual assault; and conspiracy of enticement of a child.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, Perry enticed a 14-year-old girl into his vehicle on Aug. 21, 2014 and drove her to a motel in Johnston where they said he sexually assaulted her multiple times.
Prosecutors said Baker then sexually assaulted the girl at a residence in West Warwick.
The said the men dropped the girl off at the bus station in Providence and she was later found in New York City two weeks after her disappearance.
Following the indictment on Nov. 4, warrants were issued for both Perry and Baker, who had been free on bail
The Attorney General’s Office said State Police troopers arrested both men Monday and that Perry and Baker were held without bail following their arraignment at Kent County Superior Court.
Both are due back in court Nov. 16 for determination of attorney and Nov. 30 for a pre-trial conference.
