Pats’ Amendola, Stop & Shop deliver 1K turkeys to food bank

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — As part of a widespread donation campaign across New England, representatives from Stop and Shop and New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola delivered 1,000 turkeys to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank Tuesday morning.

The grocery retailer has pledged to donate more than 13,000 turkeys and 300,000 holiday meals to food banks throughout New England, as well as $12 million to help support families in need.

According to statistics from the food bank, 60,800 households in the Ocean State are impacted by hunger and food insecurity.
