The Buzz: Holiday shopping trend

A new survey says that more than half of Americans plan to shop at local businesses this holiday season.

The survey commissioned by the website Yelp finds that 64% of customers are planning on shopping at mom-and-pop stores.

They will spend about $258 on average.

That comes out to nearly 40 billion dollars being spent with local retailers this holiday season.

2,016 adults participated in the online survey which was conducted by Yelp and the Harris poll.
