SALEM, Mass. (WPRI) — Testimony is scheduled to resume Monday morning in the trial of the Massachusetts teen accused of raping and killing his teacher.

Friday, jurors got another look at surveillance video from Danvers High School, that showed Philip Chism following his teacher, 23-year-old Colleen Ritzer, in the hallway shortly before she was killed.

According to WBZ-TV in Boston, a 16-year-old student and former teammate of Chism’s described seeing him rolling a recycling barrel down the hall.

When the student asked Chism what he was doing, he said “Nothing. Go to the soccer field.”

Prosecutors say Chism put Ritzer’s body in the barrel after brutally murdering her in a bathroom. He then took her body to the woods and dumped it, according to prosecutors.

Another witness, a state trooper, described the graphic crime scene.

Jurors passed around a graphic photo of Ritzer’s body – but it was not displayed to the courtroom in an effort to spare Ritzer’s family from having to see it.

Chism’s attorneys acknowledge that Chism did, in fact, kill Ritzer, but they are working on building an insanity defense.
