Newsmakers 11/20/2015: Syrian refugee debate, PARCC results

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – On the first half: Rep. Aaron Regunberg, D-Providence and Rep. Michael Chippendale, R-Foster, debate the issue of whether or not Rhode Island should accept refugees Syria. In a heated exchange, the pair air out their differences, with Regunberg arguing there are safeguards in place on the federal level and Chippendale saying they aren’t enough.

On the second half: South Kingstown Superintendent Dr. Kristen Stringfellow discusses her district’s good results in the statewide PARCC exam, a contrast with poor scores across much of the rest of Rhode Island.
