PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy and his wife Amy are welcoming a new baby girl to their family.

The couple, who live in Brigantine, New Jersey, say Nell Kennedy was born at 4:31 a.m. Sunday.

They say in a statement that the happy and healthy baby girl weighed 6 pounds at birth.

They also thanked well-wishers for their support.

The couple married in 2011 in the Kennedy family compound on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

They have two other daughters — Harper and Nora — and a son named Owen.

Kennedy, a Democrat, represented Rhode Island’s 1st congressional district from 1995 until 2011, when he opted not to seek re-election.

He’s the son of the late U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.
