Resident stabbed during Cranston home invasion

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Cranston are investigating after reports of a stabbing at a home in the city.

Officers responded to a call for a home invasion at 66 Wayside Drive around 9:45 p.m. Sunday. According to the two residents, two white men knocked on their door and accosted them, demanding money.

Police said one of the suspects showed a handgun and got into a fight with one of the residents.

During the scuffle, one of the victims was cut in the arm, hand and armpit, police said. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they do not know what caused the suspects to leave at the time they did. But, said both males ran across Reservoir Avenue and got into a red, older model vehicle.

At this time, it is unclear if the suspects took anything from the home. Police said the incident is under investigation.
