MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WPRI)- A grand jury has indicted a suspect on murder charges following the death of her partner.
Melissa Castle is charged with one count of murder. According to police, Castle choked her partner, Rachel Kilroy, in August after an argument inside their Jean Street apartment escalated. Prosecutors said Castle later called 9-1-1 and admitted to the act.
During an August court appearance, it was revealed that Castle told police “I choked her. She’s dead.”
A friend of the victim said Kilroy was having relationship troubles with Castle and that the year and a half relationship was frequently violent.
Castle has been held without bail since her arrest. She is due back in court next week.
