WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Weeks after police announced an arrest in the decades-old murder of an elderly West Warwick woman, the suspected killer has been indicted on murder and sexual assault charges.
The indictment, handed down Wednesday by a Kent County Grand Jury, accuses David Roscoe of sexually assaulting and killing 85-year-old Germaine Mouchon in her West Warwick home in August 1990.
The murder went unsolved for 25 years until West Warwick Police met with the victim’s son last summer and reopened the case. DNA evidence from biological material found at the crime scene linked Roscoe to the murder.
Roscoe was arrested last month. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Kent County Superior Court on January 8.
