Police: Suspect in Pawtucket stabbing returned to scene

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A Pawtucket man accused of stabbing another man just hours into the new year was arrested after police said he returned to the scene.

Pawtucket police said they responded to Myrtle Street at about 4:45 a.m. Friday to find a 24-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his chest and back.

While officers were speaking with the victim, another man – identified as Gauze Aziz Dimitri Lago Abidjan – came back to the scene, according to police.

Abidjan, 22, was arrested and charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon after police said they learned he stabbed the victim.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his wounds, which police said did not appear to be life-threatening.
