PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Officials say construction on a 744-space parking garage will begin this week in downtown Providence, bringing road and sidewalk closures that may affect commuters.
The Providence Journal reports CV Properties of Boston will begin work Thursday on the garage, located just northwest of its $220 million South Street Landing renovation project.
Coinciding with the work will be the closure of one of two northbound lanes on Eddy Street to accommodate the construction.
The closure extends from just north of South Street to the intersection of Ship and Eddy streets. The street is expected to remain shut down until the garage is completed in December 2016.
CV Properties spokesman Eric Cote says the company asks for the public’s patience during construction and advises motorists to consider alternative routes.
