WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) — A Warren family is safe after a fire damaged their home Tuesday night.
The flames broke out at about 4 p.m. at a home on Emery Drive. When crews arrived on scene they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor.
Fire officials said there are no hydrants in the area, so mutual aid was called in from Swansea and Rehoboth.
Crews had the fire knocked down in about 40 minutes but remained on scene until 6 p.m.
Officials said the family was able to make it out of the home safely, but they will not be allowed back inside Tuesday night.
The cause remains under investigation.
