No winners in historic Powerball numbers drawing

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Powerball fever was at an all-time high Saturday ahead of the historic drawing.

But with no winners yet again, the jackpot is now the largest in U.S. history at an estimated $1.3 billion.

*Winning numbers: 32, 16, 19, 57, 34 Powerball 13.

Eyewitness News was at Broadway Mart in East Providence Saturday night and many Rhode Islanders were trying their hand at becoming a millionaire.

With the jackpot on the rise all week long, tickets were being sold at a record pace at the store.

Even with the odds of winning at 292 million to one, people didn’t stop coming in for tickets.

According to a recent study by finance website Value Penguin, Rhode Islanders buy more Powerball tickets per capita than anyone else.

“We’re the smallest state and we want to make a name for ourselves. We want to make that money,” said Marlena Ferrell.

People have all kinds of ideas for what they would do with the money if they win big – and the ideas included giving money to family and friends and quitting their jobs.
