Fire damages Pawtucket daycare center

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A daycare center in Pawtucket was damaged after flames broke out Tuesday night.

According to Battalion Chief Robert Neill, the fire started at about 5:30 p.m. at El Bebe Daycare on Beverage Hill Avenue.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the roof, but there was some minor structural damage inside.

No children were inside the building at the time of the fire. The owners were there and were able to make it out safely, according to Neill.

It’s not yet clear when the daycare will be able to reopen.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious. The cause remains under investigation.
