Wind forces cancellation of Block Island Ferry

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The rain is gone, but high winds remain Wednesday.

A High Wind Advisory remains in effect for the area until 5 p.m. Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 45 mph expected. Small tree limbs and branches could be downed and isolated power outages are possible.

The windy conditions forced the cancelation of the Block Island Ferry.

While RIDOT crews were out treating the roads Tuesday night, travel conditions were still slippery in many areas, especially on side streets, Wednesday morning.
