Man drives drunk in police station parking lot

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) – A man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk in the police station parking lot.

Warwick Police said Richard Fisher, 41, was driving drunk when he pulled into the station’s back parking lot over the weekend.

Police posted about the incident on their Facebook page saying, “You can’t make this stuff up.”

There are signs posted before entering the parking lot that read, “Do not enter. Police vehicles only.” Police said Fisher went in anyway.

When approached by an officer, Fisher said he was trying to find Coburn Street, which is four miles away.

Police said he failed every field sobriety test and his blood alcohol content was five times the legal limit.

Fisher is charged with driving under the influence. He is due in court in March.
