NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) – Police in North Attleboro are trying to figure out who’s responsible for vandalizing soccer fields.
The brand new fields were set to open to the public in the Spring, but now they have to be repaired.
The fields sustained more than $6,000 worth of damage.
The original project cost $300,000 and took 8 years to complete.
Selectman Paul Belham called the vandalism “a kick in the butt to all of us.”
The town has decided to front the payments for the repair costs, but that means funding for other parks and recreation programs may be affected.
Belham said “it is just the fact that it got done and the intent. You know they came out here with the intent to cause damage.
The Board of Selectman is now considering a $500 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
