Police ID women found dead inside Exeter home

EXETER, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after two women were found dead Wednesday inside an Exeter home.

Emergency responders were dispatched just before 12:30 p.m. to a home on Skunk Hill Road. According to Rhode Island State Police, a man came home to find his mother and stepsister deceased.

Police said the mother, identified as Wilma Reynolds, 85, was found in her bedroom on the top floor of the home. The stepsister, identified as Carol Lydick, 64, was found in her bedroom on the bottom floor.

State Police Lt. Col. Todd Catlow said the situation is being treated as a sudden death investigation, but did not specify the manner of the deaths.

At this time, the deaths are not considered suspicious.

There was no carbon monoxide present in the house, according to state police.

Police said a dog that was in the house was found to be healthy.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Sciences Unit responded to the scene to investigate, and the Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased.
