PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — All United States and Rhode Island flags will now be flown at half-staff in memory of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Governor Raimondo directed state facilities and buildings Monday to keep their flags at half-staff until sunset on the day of his burial.
The motion is in accordance with a Presidential Proclamation made by President Obama on Saturday.
“On behalf of all Rhode Islanders, I send my deepest condolences to Justice Scalia’s loved ones in this difficult time,” said Raimondo. “As a member of the Supreme Court, he served honorably as a dedicated and loyal public servant.”
Justice Scalia served as a Supreme Court Justice since his appointment in 1986 by President Reagan.
