We hope you have a sweet tooth because National Girl Scout cookie weekend is coming up!
Senior Director of Fund Development for the Girl Scouts of Southern New England, Ginger Lallo, and Coach of the URI Women’s Basketball team and Chairperson for the Girl Scouts, Daynia La-Force, joined us on the Rhode Show.
They told us about the Girl Scouts’ goals and what they’re doing for the community.
February 26 – 28 is National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend. Troops will be selling cookies at booth sales across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. By selling cookies, girls are able to raise money to support community service projects, fund trips and activities, and help them attend camps.
In additional, Friday, February 26 is Community service day. Each year, GSSNE selects a local organization to be their cookie sale community service project. This year, the Katie DeCubellis Memorial Foundation has been selected. Katie DeCubellis was a Girl Scout who was killed by a drunk driver at the age of 13. This foundation continues Katie’s legacy by promoting youth leadership and awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and substance abuse.
