PC hockey holds onto #5 ranking

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s hockey team stayed No. 5 in the latest national polls announced on Monday (Feb. 22).

For the 82nd consecutive week, the Friars earn a spot in the USCHO.com poll rankings and currently sit fifth overall in the PairWise rankings. Providence has resided in the top-10 of all 20 polls released this season.

The Friars took sole possession of second place in the Hockey East standings after a sweep over then first place Notre Dame. With the win on Saturday night, Providence clinched a first round bye in the Hockey East playoffs and secured no worse than a No. 3 seed. The Friars trail first place Boston College by two points with two games remaining in the regular season.

Up next, the Friars will tangle with the Minutemen of UMass in a home-and-home series beginning Friday night at the Mullins Center.
