The Rhode Show Big Break 2016: Gillian Marie – Angel

Gillian Marie opens up her first vocal debut with “Angel”, the title track off of her original EP “Fly”. As a flautist inspired by classical music and a vocalist inspired by pop, Gillian marries the two with flavors of orchestral instruments, synthesizers, layered harmonies and much more. Written, recorded and produced entirely by Gillian, “Angel” blends influences from hip-hop, classical, electronic pop, and even marching band music! Despite its upbeat tone, “Angel” was written during a time in Gillian’s life when she was suffering severe anxiety and depression from running away from home to pursue her dreams as a performer. “I just couldn’t find the strength to love and trust others like I use too. I was defeated and didn’t know how to restart my life again.” That is until she met a new friend who would pull her out of her depression and give her the strength she needed to carry on. “He gave me hope, for others and for myself. That’s the kind of love you just don’t find everywhere. He was my guardian angel.”
