Boy, 13, struck and killed by car in Mashpee

MASHPEE, Mass. (AP) — Police say a 13-year-old boy has been struck and killed by a vehicle along a Mashpee street.

Chief Scott Carline says the boy was struck at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Barnstable where he died.

Police say the 55-year-old driver from Mashpee who struck the boy remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. His vehicle, with a dent in the hood and a smashed windshield, was towed from the scene.

No charges have been filed and no names were released.
