Political strategist weighs in on Super Tuesday

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Political Strategist Cara Cromwell, who’s been a frequent guest on Newsmakers, joined us live in studio to talk about Tuesday’s primary results.

Cromwell said there were no big surprises overall.

She said Hillary Clinton has had major national momentum, laying a lot of groundwork for years, and locked things up during Super Tuesday. Cromwell also explained how Bernie Sanders is not a mainstream candidate and people are aware he’s less likely to beat the Republicans.

Cromwell suggested Ohio Governor John Kasich would make an excellent running mate for any candidate, but has no reason to get out of the race before the Ohio primary.

National polls are showing that if Trump wins the Republican nomination, either Clinton or Sanders would likely beat Trump.
