FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A serious car crash shut down a busy roadway late Saturday night in Fall River.

It happened at about 11:45 p.m. on Martine Street near the Fall River-Westport line. The car was heading west when it crashed into a stone wall in the area of 151 Martine Street. No other vehicles were involved.

Fall River police said that three people were hurt, and that two of them were unconscious when first responders arrived. At least one of them had several broken bones. None of the victims were wearing seat belts.

All three victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. As of Sunday afternoon, one was in critical condition, one was in serious condition, and one was in stable condition. Police are not yet identifying the victims.

Fall River police investigators were back at the scene late Sunday morning performing accident reconstruction; police told Eyewitness News that it did not appear that alcohol or racing contributed to the crash but the investigation is still underway.
