Man killed by train was Gulf War veteran, father of 3

MANSFIELD, Mass. (WPRI) — Officials have identified the man who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Mansfield last week.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office, Mark Rose died last Wednesday after he was hit while trying to cross the tracks from the Crocker Street side.

Rose, 47, of North Dighton, was a married father of three. The DA’s office said he worked at Harvard Medical School in Boston and was a Marine veteran of the Gulf War.

According to Rose’s obituary, calling hours will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. His funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Silva Funeral Home in Taunton followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton.

The crash remains under investigation.
