PawSox donate bleachers to city of Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Upgrades at McCoy Stadium have left bleachers available to be donated to the Department of Public Works in Pawtucket.

City workers and stadium employees loaded the bleachers and moved them to a DPW facility on Tuesday. The bleachers were purchased recently but are slated to be replaced by new, picnic-style tables as part of ongoing work at the stadium.

“The city is very happy that our partners at the PawSox thought of Pawtucket when considering what to do with the bleachers,” Mayor Donald Grebien said in a statement. “The bleachers will be put to great use at one of our local facilities and will add value to whatever venue they are located.”

The DPW is now working with the Parks and Recreation Department to determine the best destination for the bleachers.
