EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Providence Police Colonel Hugh Clements. Summer tends to be a busier time for urban police departments, Col. Clements talks about his staffing plans going into the next few months. Clements also discusses the department’s plan to conduct a trial run of officer-worn body cameras.
On the second half: Jared Moffat, Director of Regulate Rhode Island. A bill pending on Smith Hill would legalize the use of recreational marijuana. As a proponent of the legislation Moffat talks about why he wants lawmakers to pass the bill rather than going for a voter referendum. He also addresses concerns about legalization of marijuana including some raised by Col. Clements on the first half.
