FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WPRI) — Police in Fairhaven took a 32-year-old man into custody Wednesday on drug charges.
According to police, Henry Catanho was arrested after he was involved in a drug transaction near his Acushnet Avenue apartment around 12 p.m.
Officers executed a search warrant at Catanho’s apartment after the transaction. They seized a digital scale, drug packaging material, a small amount of heroin and more than $2,000 in cash, according to police.
Catanho is facing several charges including distribution and possession of heroin. Before this arrest, police said Catanho already had open cases for trafficking heroin, distribution of heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin, subsequent offense.
At the time of his arrest, police said Catanho was out on bail.
Fairhaven detectives were assisted Wednesday by the Bristol County Sherrif’s Office’s South Coast Anti-Crime Task Force and New Bedford police, as well as a Massachusetts Environmental Police K9 unit.
