WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The neighbor of a woman found dead inside her Woonsocket home last week has been arrested on non-murder charges stemming from the homicide investigation, police confirmed for Eyewitness News.

Tyler Grenon, 21, is the son of Constance Gauthier’s neighbor. Police now confirm Grenon was arrested Saturday, three days after Gauthier was found dead.

Grenon’s father initially told Eyewitness News that his son alerted police to the death. Vinny Grenon said his son was worried about Gauthier and discovered her body during a well-being check. He said his son looked in Gauthier’s bedroom window and saw her underneath a mattress, with the room ransacked.  However, police never confirmed that version of events.

The day after Gauthier’s body was discovered, police searched Vinny Grenon’s house.

They said Tyler Grenon was brought into police headquarters Saturday for questioning and was then detained after they said he demanded copies home security camera footage from two of Gauthier’s neighbors.

Police said Grenon then managed to escape police, ran across Clinton Street and jumped into the Blackstone River, where he was eventually recaptured.
