4 arrested in connection to West Warwick fire

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Authorities say they’ve arrested four people in connection to a January fire at an abandoned home on Main Street in West Warwick. The house was part of the Lippitt Mill Complex, which is directly across the street from the fire station.

Investigators say the suspects broke into the home and used it as a place to drink and do drugs.

KaileeJayne Withrow, 19, of Cranston, Brittany Lee Courtney, 18, of Warwick, Paul Deangelis, 20, of West Warwick, and Joshua Brayton, 23, of Coventry, have all been charged with breaking and entering. Brayton also faces a charge of procuring alcohol for a minor.

“These types of structure fires, especially under the cold harsh conditions of Jan. 19, are hazardous; presenting serious risks to our firefighters and police officers, and also creating potential dangers to the surrounding public,” Col. Richard Silva said. “Our detectives and fire investigators did an outstanding job in identifying the individuals responsible for allegedly breaking into the building that night.”
