PawSox prepare to take the field for Opening Day

The PawSox are getting ready to welcome back fans for a new season. Weather permitting, the team is scheduled to host the Buffalo Bisons at McCoy Stadium at 7:05 p.m.

Rob Crain, the PawSox Vice President of Sales is advising fans to check the team’s website and social media channels for updates on Thursday night’s game. If it’s cancelled, the information will be available on and the team’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

As the players gear up for Opening Day, the team’s management prepares to show off some new upgrades to their ballpark.

The stadium now has a larger, protective steel net behind home plate that will not only keep fans safe from foul balls, but it’s also more transparent so they can better see the action, according to General Manager Dan Rea.

Thirteen sections were also given a coat of fresh paint and the team took down a set of bleachers in right field to expand the patio and barbecue area, which also now includes a stage for live entertainment. Those bleachers were donated to the city of Pawtucket.
