Teen hospitalized after being attacked in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A 17-year-old boy is in the hospital after being jumped by a group of suspects Sunday night.

According to police, the teen was attacked around 9 p.m. on Lonsdale Avenue near the intersection of Lloyd Street and was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Officers said he was slashed in the abdomen and bicep and had to be rushed into surgery for his wounds. Police said Monday he is in stable condition.

Eyewitnesses told police a group of seven to 10 males wearing sweatpants and hooded sweatshirts jumped out of a dark SUV or minivan and attacked the victim as he was walking south on Lonsdale Avenue.

After attacking the victim, some of the suspects ran down Lloyd Street.

Police have not yet made any arrests in the crime. Officials said they hope to talk to the victim to learn more about what happened – and how is responsible.
