WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A bail hearing that was scheduled Monday for the man accused of stabbing his 19-year-old nephew to death in his sleep and injuring his brother, has been postponed.
The new date is April 19.
Police had Rogers in custody just hours before the deadly stabbing because of a domestic disturbance. Rogers was taken to a facility to get sober, but someone brought him back to the home he shared with the victims shortly after.
Rogers was arraigned in a hospital room where he was being treated for a medical condition.
Jared Rogers pleaded not guilty to one charge of murder and two charges of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling.
Four others have been charged in the case.
