PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Red Flag Warning for parts of Southern New England expired at 8 p.m. Tuesday, but the risk of brush fires remains.
According to the Pinpoint Weather Team, a Red Flag Warning means the combination of dry weather and gusty winds could result in rapidly spreading fires that become difficult to extinguish.
The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the entire region until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
It’s expected to be dry and gusty throughout the day, so all outdoor burning should be avoided. It’s also important to properly discard lit cigarettes and make sure your home and landscaping are as fire resistant as possible.
Our next chance for rain comes on Friday.
