In the Kitchen: BBQ Sauce for Wings and Burgers

Discover Newport has brought in Chef Jon Kennedy from Portsmouth Publick House, making barbecue sauce for some wings and burgers.

2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup Molasses (Add more for desired sweetness taste)
1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon ground mustard
1/2 cup Jack Daniels or whiskey

1 tsp granulated garlic
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the onion powder, ground mutard, garlic and whiskey. Cook for about 10 minutes until alcohol is cooked off.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and bring sauce to a a boil.  After sauce is at a boil, bring temperature to a simmer for 20 minutes.  After 20 minutes, chill the sauce.
