Discover Newport has brought in Chef Jon Kennedy from Portsmouth Publick House, making barbecue sauce for some wings and burgers.
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup Molasses (Add more for desired sweetness taste)
1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon ground mustard
1/2 cup Jack Daniels or whiskey
1 tsp granulated garlic
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the onion powder, ground mutard, garlic and whiskey. Cook for about 10 minutes until alcohol is cooked off.
- Add remaining ingredients and bring sauce to a a boil. After sauce is at a boil, bring temperature to a simmer for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, chill the sauce.
