Crews respond to house fire in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Fire crews in New Bedford were called to a home on Eugenia Street Wednesday morning.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the building and heavy fire filled the top floor.

Officials said the blaze was contained by 6:30 a.m. and members of the Red Cross are assisting the family.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire or if any injuries were reported.
