PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Governor Gina Raimondo is in California in hopes of luring companies to invest in Rhode Island.
The governor’s office says she will be meeting with company executives to sell the state as a strategic location with top universities and a skilled workforce.
The names of the companies Raimondo is scheduled to meet with have not been disclosed.
She unsuccessfully pitched Rhode Island to General Electric last year.
GE opted to move its headquarters to Boston instead.
She also pitched Rhode Island to San Jose-based PayPal.
The governor is expected to return to Rhode Island on Friday,
