BOSTON (WPRI) — A new law banning minors from using tanning beds and other devices in Massachusetts took effect Thursday.
Gov. Charlie Baker signed the measure back in February, in the hopes of cutting the rate of skin cancer among young people. 13 other states and Washington, D.C. have similar laws on the books.
Previously, state law required that children between the ages of 14 and 17 have parental permission before they could go tanning.
